Providing Essential Management Review and Oversight

Areas of Practice

Operational Management Consulting

When sustained forward movement is critical to your organization, a review of the management practices is essential to keep the impetus in place.  Getting to know the organization with fresh eyes and outside review can lead to management growth via benchmarking and goal attainment level. Operational efficiency and quality of service provided go hand-in-hand as a subset of your unit's operational management.  Moving toward more modern practices generally reduces or eliminates wasteful activities.

Risk assessment and management

The aspect of reducing risk should be holistic in approach and organization wide.  Good management dictates that to be prepared for tomorrow, prepare today and put into place those practices that will serve to reduce, mitigate, or eliminate risk.  Risk management is a constantly evolving practice of trying to stay ahead of the next risk.  Once limited to an assessment of the legal liability of the organization and threats from outside and inside, now the definition encompasses ethical considerations, social media behavior, IT management, and other vulnerabilities.  You need a plan and process in place.

Leadership Coaching

We provide a service to help you gain your short or long-term goals.    This is an individualized process, done in a one-on-one setting in order to give the executive the tools needed to accomplish objectives.  The goal is to assist the executive putting skills into actions for a specific purpose.  Often the coaching performed is back to the fundamental of Mission, Vision, & Values of the organization.  More than one individual may be coached during the same period, however, all coaching is individual and apart from any other team member.

Operational Review

The operational review asks a number of questions, but primarily looks to whether the organization and subsets are designed in be best manner to meet its mission and the objectives.  The study looks to the deliverables and the measurables to quantify what is provided by the organizaiton.  The review produces an observation of current activity and future potential activity.

Strategic Management Consulting

Our strategic management consulting practice works with senior executives and staff to help them work toward recognizing those complex issues and setting paths for short-term and long-term with a strategy planned with the organization in mind.  We analyze your organization using thorough analysis, combined with our industry knowledge to prepare your staff with an executable strategy for the future that you can be confident about.

Leadership Transition and Bridging Services

The first day on the job should also be the first day for making preparations for the next leader of the organization.  The reality is that too often there is neither preparation for the off-boarding of the old leader nor preparation for on-boarding of the new leader.  Leadership transition is the coaching of the existing staff to regularly prepare to make way for a replacement.  Before passing the baton or bringing in the interim management while you select your next leadership tree, collect that institutional knowledge, some of which could be lost forever, and harm to the ultimate goal of the organization. Let's look at what you do and how we can carry it forward.

Systems Analysis

The comparative approach to in-place systems allows your unit to look at what you have versus what you could have that would be better for your service delivery.  We look to the processes, purpose, and stated goals of the organization's activities to see if there is a more efficient manner to deliver the same or greater measurables in a more efficient or productive manner.

Staffing Review

Only a thorough analysis of the levels of staffing, service delivery, and end user satisfaction can give indications of whether staffing is meeting the needs of the organization.  Yours is not the first organization to have performed the same services in the same conditions.  Benchmarks have been measured in almost all areas of service provision and balanced with job descriptions, and collective bargaining agreements, so your organization will usually have a similar, like-sized agency to use as a comparison.

Providing Interim Management

The prospect of providing your organization with interim management is the opportunity to take a breath while searching for your next long-term management.  One of the greatest advantages of interim is the potential for speedy deployment, thereby enhancing stability of the organization.  During the same time, the interim management can offer a comprehensive review of existing practices. If the organization is considering a upper level restructuring, the interim management serves to provide an anchor for daily operations

Change Strategy Planning Implementation

Nothing is as simple as setting the plan on the conference table and expecting that staff will just make it happen by a certain date.  After the creation of a strategic plan, there is the process by which the plan will be implemented. Unit-wide participation in the roll-out of a new strategic plan smooths some issues.d   Bringing in the detractors, listening to issues before implementation, setting goals and timelines,  seeing what is working with the new plan and what is not, and being flexible when flexibility is needed.

Budgeting Direction

Budgeting in both government and the private section are areas where the wind may blow in a different direction each year.  We are experienced in those situations where the funding has dried up or disappeared, or when budgets need to be realigned for changing expectations.  Training staff in the budget process, budget education, budget participation, and creating budgets transparency are issues we have dealt with before.

Transparency Implementation

Part and parcel of integrating your organization with the community is to raise the level of trust with reasonable transparency.  Making information available is a proven factor in helping the community to understand the role of your agency.  Practices and policies must be standardized with well intentioned purposes that meet or exceed a sniff test.  Open transparency can also improve accountability as far as end users are concerned.

Personnel Compliance

Maintaining training and other requisite perishable skills is useful and often mandated.  Personnel compliance studies look at the job skills necessary for each position and the training along with the staff post refresher behavior.  Do we practice what we have trained staff?  Is the workplace a safe place?  Have we reduce or eliminated sources of coworker induces stress, such as bullying, etc.?
